See "The Three Clairs" this Friday at Defy Film Festival ~

I am pleased to say that at long last, the final iteration of THE THREE CLAIRS will materialize this coming weekend in Nashville as part of the exquisite Defy Film Festival. 

I wrote and filmed this piece on a 2006 JVC Camcorder in rural Finland in the summer of 2022. The performers were Hayun Yoon, Antonio Caruso, and Susan Clarke — three magical people I befriended at Arteles Creative Residence in Haukijarvi, Finland. I created the animations while on weekend residency at Electric Arcadia in Sewanee, Tennessee in January 2024. The music was made in Ableton Live at a cabin at Tim’s Ford in July 2025 and each of the four films are playing on a loop, creating an asynchronous piece of music that will continue to change as it plays. This is my most ambitious solo work yet and I do hope you'll come see the "screening" if you can. 

I initially imagined this piece being a more traditional film for screening, but as it turns out, it was meant to be seen in the sunshine in the summer in some trees in the presence of mosquitoes, much like the way it was filmed. I will be hosting an artist talk with my friend Fjolla Hoxha as the kickoff for Friday at Defy Film Festival at Studio 615 in the The Grove at 6:00 PM -- see the map below to find us.
